Shannon Johnson, 34, of Fort Lupton, wept as Quammen of Thomas to the District judge said he didn't think it was a bad person or that she had killed his son on purpose, the Greeley Tribune reported.

But, he added, this does not mean its action was not criminal.

"You left the little boy in a bathtub so you could entertain yourself on the computer to play games," said Quammen. "And you left this human being of 13 months, Joseph little, incredibly for these reasons."

Johnson pleaded guilty in March for negligence causing the death of her child. The charge carried a range of sentencing of four to twelve years, but it also left open the possibility that it could receive probation or community services. The authorities have rejected both of these options, saying: they did not want to minimize the seriousness of his crime.

According to court documents, Johnson puts his son in the bathtub for bath a little after 8: 30 am on 20 September. She then left unattended in a bathtub filled with water, as she went to another room to share videos, check status updates and play Café World on Facebook. Johnson said members that Joseph had grown independent and wanted to be left alone in the bathtub.

When she returned to the bathroom, said that she found Joseph sideways and face down in the bathtub.

Johnson called 911 to say that Joseph was not breathing. Paramedics were able to revive the toddler, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital in Denver.

She was also sentenced to five years of mandatory parole after his incarceration.

According to the affidavit of Johnson said police the boy "wanted to be left alone" and has been a very "independent baby."

She also told police that she knew what it was like being said "no", and she did not only want her baby to be told "no".

The affidavit said that she also did not want to be known as a "of Mama's boy."

Police said Johnson, she gave the boy a bath every day — sometimes twice a day. She said that on the day that Joseph died, the water level would have been higher than usual.

Johnson told police that she had been leaving Joseph in the tub only for weeks.

She said also to the authorities that his son had a seizure at his grandmother's House, a month earlier and that he had given a medicine where he arrived once more. Doctors did not diagnose the cause of the seizure and there are not other occurrences, Johnson said.

The investigation into the death of the boy has been delayed while investigators waited for the final autopsy report. This report is back to January 3. He said that the baby died of anoxic injury of brain, a heart and, according to the affidavit for the arrest of drowning. Johnson was arrested days later.

She was also sentenced to five years of mandatory parole after his incarceration.

Undersheriff County of Weld Margie Martinez said KMGH-TV Denver mother of Johnson said that she had warned of his daughter the danger of leaving the toddler unattended in a few days only before water he drowned.

"She told him that she would not do more," said Martinez.
